Inflation and the businesses that shrug

Which companies pass it straight on, and which quietly drown in it.

Inflation is a stress test. It shows which businesses really control their prices and which only believed they did. The result is rarely gradual.

A business with real pricing power passes higher costs through and keeps its margins, because the customer has nowhere better to go. A business without it eats the costs, watches the margin compress, and discovers that its loyal customers were loyal to the price all along. The same event makes one company stronger and the other weaker.

We are not forecasters. We will not tell you where inflation goes next. We want to own businesses for which the answer barely matters, the ones that put the price up and carry on. Inflation does not create those businesses. It just exposes which ones they always were.
